Attorney Ruben D. Sanmiguel was born in Hinsdale, Illinois. He received his BA degree in History in 1982 and his law degree in 1990 from Loyola University in Chicago.

Ruben began his career with the Office of the Cook County Public Defender in 1991. During his time there, he learned to aggressively defend the rights of those in need within the Illinois criminal justice system.

Experienced with every aspect of criminal law, Ruben has successfully defended clients in hundreds of contested hearings, bench trials, and jury trials in nearly every courtroom in the Aurora and Chicago Metro area.

In 2002, Ruben founded The Law Offices of Ruben Sanmiguel with the mission to pursue best results and improve the lives of his clients.

Before becoming a lawyer, Ruben served as a commissioned officer in the US Navy. He served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk as Officer of the Deck and as a Surface Warfare Officer.

Later, Ruben served tours in the Pentagon, the United Kingdom, and in the US Embassies in Costa Rica, Peru, and Barbados.

LCDR Sanmiguel continues to volunteer as a Blue and Gold Officer for the US Naval Academy, offering guidance and mentorship for students interested in joining the US Navy.
